The online multiplayer game ‘Among Us’ has skyrocketed in popularity recently with players of all ages hopping onto their phones or computers in a game of ‘who can lie better?’
Even though the game was first launched in 2018, Among Us has gained the attention of internet users in 2020 and the developers even had plans to launch Among Us 2.
But just slightly over a month since the announcement, the game’s developer, Innersloth, has decided to cancel Among Us 2. Instead, they’re opting to work on and fix the original game, according to PC Gamer.
In Innersloth’s announcement, they said that they have had several long discussions about the future of the game and about the new content that would be included into Among Us 2. They wrote that they had planned for a sequel as the codebase of Among Us 1 is “outdated and not built to support adding so much new content”.
However, seeing that many have started enjoying the game recently, Innersloth says it has inspired them to increase support for the game and “take it to the next level”.
“We have decided to cancel Among Us 2 and instead put all our focus into improving Among Us 1,” Innersloth said.
“All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1. This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it.”
“We have lots of things planned and we’re excited to bring new content to everyone as you continue to enjoy playing!”
Previously, Innersloth said the original game was “not created to be this big” and as a result, it was “extremely hard to add more things without breaking existing things.”
Well, whether it be Among us 1 or Among Us 2, we’re sure the game will continue to bring people together to have some good fun.
