Many of us enjoy the time to ourselves where we get to be in touch with our inner child who needs our attention. However, loneliness is a feeling that we’re bound to feel when we have spent too much time with no one but only ourselves.
That doesn’t mean you can’t love your own companionship, and spending time with yourself is not just limited at home. In a TikTok post by @nisa_rinaa, the Malaysian woman shares how you can still enjoy time with yourself, even on weekends amongst the crowd.
Nisa initially enjoyed spending time at home on weekends, but not anymore, especially after she learned to entertain herself, without relying on others’ presence.
“I felt lonely to see everyone with loved ones on weekends. But I realised, sooner or later, you’ll feel burnt out after isolating yourself too much at home.”
“Being alone does not mean you’re lonely”
In her clip, Nisa shares some tips to be happy on your own, and it all begins with how you manage your emotions and expectations.
“You have to learn to entertain yourself because not everyone is meant to stay forever.”
She added,
“You have to love yourself more and at the same time, enjoy your own company. At least you know, being alone does not mean you’re lonely.”
In an inspiring conversation with Nisa, she told WORLD OF BUZZ that for her to be comfortable on her own, she learned to resolve her past, instead of faking to be comfortable with it.
“I resolved all the pains that I have been through, I identify the emotions that I felt and try to express it.”
“Understanding and accepting”
Emotions are always fluctuating, and Nisa handles them by writing them down – journalling.
All her thoughts and emotions are written down and “buried” in her journal, which helped in understanding, as well as accepting past events that cannot be changed anymore.
“If you can’t understand what happened and what you felt, you’ll lose yourself and it will leave wounds in your heart.”
To restore herself, Nisa defied all odds and collected herself from the shattered fragments of her past self and pain.
“I made peace with it by validating it.”
You can listen to what she said in the TikTok clip below and this is probably just what need to hear when it comes to self-love.
