In recent news shared by @mynewshub, a shootout occurred in Bandar Sunway, with videos from eyewitnesses circulating online. The footage shows what seems to be a car chase that ended in a collision, followed by the sound of gunshots.
According to Harian Metro, one of the suspects involved in the incident, who was identified as an African citizen, was shot and killed by the police.
The group would scam victims with fake business deals
It’s believed he was part of a bandit group that’s been active since 2018 and has racked up approximately RM8 million from victims. Reports say the group consists of around 10 African men who scam victims through fake business deals.
Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Shuhaily Mohd Zain said that the incident, which happened around 7 pm, involved a male suspect in his 30s firing 2 bullets that hit the police vehicle.
“We’re continuing to monitor groups active in the Klang Valley and are keeping an eye on all exit points from the country, as they might try to swap passports,” he added.
Police are still on the hunt for the other 10 members
The police are still on the hunt for the remaining 10 members of the bandit group who are currently at large.
Shuhaily explained that the suspects would 1st reach out to victims on social media, offering deals like selling jewellery or exchanging foreign currency. They would then arrange to meet at a hotel, trick the victim into coming with them, and attack them on the highway.
The suspect’s body has been sent to Serdang Hospital for an autopsy.
