So, the rainy season is upon us once again, and we know how frustrating travelling around can be during this time, whether it’s to work or school.

It’s also an extra tough time for those taking public transport, as the heavy rain can often make things way more inconvenient for commuters. So, we decided to list out some essential items those taking public transport during this time can probably use to help make things a little less uncomfortable. Check it out!

Feel like it’s mafan to carry around a raincoat while on the train or bus? Well, why not kill two birds with one stone by investing in a reversible parka? That way, you can use it as a regular hoodie if you’re the type who feels chilly while riding the bus or train and flip it inside out to the waterproof side when you step out into the rain! Kaodim!

Uniqlo sells these parkas in a variety of colours and while the price may be a little steep for some, we think it’s a great investment considering the amount of usage you get out of it!

Check out where you can get one here (women) or here (men).

2. Use a waterproof backpack

While wellingtons are ideal for rainy weather, not all of us are into the PCK-style yellow boots for daily wear. So, why not invest in a pair of waterproof ankle boots that are a little more stylish? Plus, you can get more use out of them and wear them for the next Good Vibes Festival!

Check out where you can get a pair here (women) or here (men).

Psst… if you have the budget to splurge on a longer lasting pair, check out Timberland’s waterproof leather boots! 6. Download weather apps that are actually reliable

We’ve come across a lot of inaccurate weather tracking apps for quite a while, so we know just how frustrating it can be to rely on something so unreliable.

However, AccuWeather is a decent weather app so far and has made some pretty accurate predictions. So, if you want, check out this app so you know the best time to leave for your commute to or from work!

This app is available on both iOS and Android.

7. Invest in a good makeup setting spray

If you frequently wear makeup for work, definitely consider investing in a good-quality setting spray that can sufficiently protect your makeup from the wet and humid weather. If you can, maybe even bring it along in your daily makeup bag for extra insurance!

One affordable setting spray that has consistently received good reviews is the NYX Professional Makeup Setting Spray. Check it out for yourself here.

8. Use a portable umbrella barrel to keep everything dry

One awkward (and possibly dangerous) thing about taking public transport during rainy weather is carrying your wet umbrella on board, causing water to drip everywhere. People could easily slip and fall if they aren’t careful enough!

This can be easily preventable with proper protection though, like this portable umbrella barrel you can easily put your umbrella into right before boarding. All you need to do is just insert your closed umbrella into the device, and it immediately prevents water from dripping everywhere. Plus, it’s collapsible so it won’t take up much space in your bag!

Check out where you can get one here.

9. Keep some hand sanitiser with you

This goes without saying, but a lot of people tend to fall sick during rainy weather and people taking public transport during this time of the year are even more vulnerable to catching something.

So, definitely keep a bottle of hand sanitiser on you at all times (even when it isn’t rainy season!) so you can keep the germs at bay and reduce your risk of catching the flu!

You can get yourself some hand sanitiser here. If you want to treat yourself to sanitisers with interesting scents, why not get some from Bath and Body Works?

So, hopefully, some of these things will help ease your commute during this rainy season!

Do you take public transport frequently? What items do you use to help ease your journey? Let us know in the comments below!
