Taiwanese internet celebrity Iris Hsieh passed away in Malaysia on Thursday (30 October) while working in the country. She was 31.
Iris’ friend and manager, Chris, revealed in an Instagram post that the Malaysian hospital report indicated the cause of death was a heart attack.

Her family, however, found her sudden death difficult to accept. According to them, Iris had always loved sports and led a healthy lifestyle. The family is considering conducting further investigations into Iris’ death in Malaysia.
Who was Iris Hsieh?
Iris was a former nurse who later gained over 530,000 followers on Instagram by sharing her skincare routines, fitness tips, and humorous reels. Due to her charm and beauty, she was affectionately dubbed the “Nursing Goddess.”
Neither Chris nor Iris had disclosed the nature of her work in Malaysia prior to her sudden passing.

Allegations of taking drugs and working as an escort
In an Instagram Story posted last night (31 October), Chris responded to allegations claiming that Iris had taken drugs in Genting Highlands and was working as an escort in Malaysia, claims he firmly denied.
“These are all baseless fabrications and malicious speculations by trolls. According to the initial police report, there was no mention of Genting Highlands, nor was there any indication that the cause of death was related to drug abuse.”
Chris added that Iris’ family has hired legal counsel to address the defamatory remarks. He also stated that he could not disclose further details at this time out of respect for the grieving family, and confirmed that the police are currently investigating the matter.

“The family does not want anyone to be misunderstood and does not want online comments to cause any further distress or harm.”
