19yo Indonesian Girl Marries 58yo Man After Her Mother Rejects His Wedding Proposal

A 58-year-old Indonesian man married a 19-year-old girl after her mother refused a proposal from the man.

The man identified as Bora proposed to the girl’s mother, but she turned him down and offered her eldest daughter for him to marry instead.

According to Kompas, the wedding ceremony took place on 7 April and went smoothly at Cippaga Hamlet, Bana Village, Bontocani district in South Sulawesi, where a dowry of about 10 million rupiah (RM2,837) as well as one hectare of land was given.

“With the agreement of both of them, the wedding was held,” said Ishak, Bana Village Head.

Harian Metro reported that Bora is a single man and has been living alone while the bride is the eldest of three siblings.

The bride’s parents have been divorced for a long time and was raised by her mother who works as a farmer.

Ishak added that the wedding took place on the basis of “mutual love to strengthen family ties”.
