Ever since the pandemic, work from home has become a norm. Although we are already entering the endemic phase, some companies do provide work-from-home options for their employees. With the time saved for traffic, dressing up and driving, many people do find working from home more efficient and convenient.

Recently in the Netherlands, the legislation to establish working from home as a legal right was approved by the Dutch parliament. According to Bloomberg, the legislation was granted by the lower house of the bicameral parliament of the Netherlands and is awaiting approval from the Dutch senate before its final adoption.

Once approved by the senate, the law makes it compulsory for employers to consider employees’ requests to work from home as long as their occupations allow it. The Netherlands will soon be one of the first countries to grant remote working flexibility by law as well.

While some employees enjoy the flexibility of working remotely, some like going to the office to interact with their colleagues. Besides, there are also companies that make it necessary for employees to go to work in the office at least once a week for in-person meetings or brainstorming sessions.
