The introduction of the Menu Rahmah initiative by the government has given consumers more choices at much cheaper prices at plenty of eateries.

However, it must be reminded that some people might not even be able to afford the cheaper alternative and might still be struggling to survive and feed their loved ones.

Recently, a restaurant in Kajang went viral after they offered free food to a man who had come to them begging for food to feed his children.

In a TikTok video shared by the owner of ‘Ayam Gepuk PAK AGUS’, they wrote, “We were visited by a man who was begging us for food“.

“He said that it’s for 2 of his kids who have not eaten yet. We immediately offered him free food which he said he would pay back once he had money.”

We respect him for pushing aside his ego to feed his children. We shouldn’t judge his situation because everyone has different obstacles, as long as he doesn’t resort to stealing. Don’t worry, this is on us,” added Shafiq Razak.

Man in distress

Meanwhile, in an interview, Shafiq stated that the restaurant was about to close at the time of the incident when he suddenly received a call from the staff, who said that someone had asked for free food.

Since there was a closed-circuit television (CCTV) installed in the restaurant, he opened it on his mobile phone to find out what happened through the CCTV, where he came to the conclusion that the man is in distress.

He told the staff to prepare 2 extra large portions of food for him without further ado and when the employee handed over the food to the man, the father could not hold back his tears for a moment and kept expressing his gratitude to the employee.

A good deed

Shafiq’s video has since gone viral and drew plenty of praise by netizens. A couple of Malaysians have offered to show their support to Shafiq’s restaurant in return for their good deed towards the struggling father.

“Whenever we feel hardship, there are always others who have it worse.”

“Thank you for doing that, each of us have our own paths and are not the same as each other. I respect you“, said a user.

Kudos to Shafiq and his staff for treating the struggling father with respect despite his plea. We hope that both the father as well as Shafiq will be blessed with success in the near future.
