Movies such as Fast & Furious that show vehicles defying the laws of physics and motorists surviving outrageous crashes look cool in concept but not so much in reality.

This is because any accident that throws cars or people into the air usually results in severe injuries or death.

Recently, a 23-second video of a car crash in Malacca that looked like a scene right out of an action movie went viral.

Based on the CCTV footage, a Proton Waja can be seen crashing into a water pipe and a motorcycle before soaring into the air and landing on the roof of a parking lot.

This caused the roof to give out and the Proton Waja to crush three vehicles beneath the roof.

“The motorcycle and three cars that were hit belong to the operator of Central Cable Factory,” said Melaka Tengah District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit.

The accident that occurred at Jalan Batu Berendam in the wee hours of the morning was believed to be caused by the driver, Jeremy Ong Chin Shen, losing control of his car.

As a result, the victim’s car skidded to the left side of the road and hit a water pipe and a motorcycle belonging to a factory worker there.

Christopher said the impact of the accident left the self-employed victim seriously injured and is now being treated in the red zone of Melaka Hospital.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim was travelling from Peringgit towards Batu Berendam to return home.”

“However, he suddenly lost control of his car, causing him to hit a water pipe on the left side of the road and crash into a motorcycle.”

“As a result, the victim suffered internal injuries and is still waiting for a brain CT scan in the Melaka Hospital’s red zone.”

According to Christopher, investigating officers have already taken blood samples from the driver involved for alcohol and drug tests.

“So far, no witnesses to the incident have come forward to give evidence, and the investigation is still ongoing in accordance with Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

In the comments, netizens pointed out how fast the victim’s vehicle was travelling and even assumed he was intoxicated.
