With the horrible floods last year, plenty of Malaysians experienced first hand what it was like to lose your belongings by an act of nature.

According to reports, Malaysians are set to face another round of heavy rainfall and flooding all across the nation in the coming months.

Despite the potential threat, it seems that politicians have no remorse or sympathy as there have been rumors that a general election could come soon.

Recently, a Malaysian uncle who lives in Ipoh shattered the hearts of fellow Malaysians after he was approached to talk about the loss of his belongings due to the flood.

In an interview with Astro Awani, Muhammad Khairiri Jamaluddin from Ipoh, can be seen tearing up and sobbing as he was asked questions about how the flood had impacted him and his household.

Khairiri who is one of the victims of the floods in Rancangan Penempatan Tersusun (RPT) Chepor in Ipoh, struggled to speak as he was trying to describe the devastation which the floods have caused him.

He said that most of his personal belongings are all ruined including his furniture and that a lorry had already come by to collect the ruined items.

Other interviewees also expressed their shock and sadness after having losing the majority of their belongings, whilst some urged the government to dig into the river to make it deeper.

Breaks hearts of Malaysians

The short clip of Muhammad Khairiri Jamaluddin’s interview has gone viral on social media where netizens were quick to condemn politicians for prioritising the general election instead of flood prevention.

“In KL, we’ve got politicians too hungry for power to even be bothered by people like Khairiri and their losses.”

“Whilst people are facing heavy losses due to the floods, politicians are still pushing for a general election during the flooding season,” said another user.

One user urged the politicians to help the rakyat instead of striving to win power, “Someone please do something for the nation, especially those who are hit by the flood every year. Instead of striving to win for power, strive for us please.”

We hope that Khairiri and others who have been impacted by the floods remain healthy and safe.
