M’sian Teacher Stays Behind Until Almost 8PM Just So 1 Student Stranded by Floods Won’t Be Left Alone
A Malaysian teacher is warming hearts across Threads after sharing a glimpse into her dedication for her career after staying back at school until nearly 8:00 PM to accompany a student whose transport was trapped by floods.
Taking to Threads, user @asheqen24 posted a photo showing a student sitting patiently outside the school grounds as night fell.

“Thank God, at 7:50 PM we finally settled the last student leaving the school grounds today,
“For those who misunderstood, let me clarify here.. This student went home late because the van picking her up was stuck due to floods.. Please remain open-minded and positive, and don’t blame anyone in this situation, especially the parents or guardians. I didn’t post this to point fingers at the parents, but as a mark of concern and to highlight a teacher’s duty, which people often view as easy, but actually requires sacrificing a lot of things..” the user shared in her viral post.
Waiting from 6:50 PM to 7:50 PM: How the teacher kept the student calm
Speaking exclusively to WORLD OF BUZZ, the user provided a detailed breakdown of what happened that evening. She explained that she waited with the student from 6:50 PM until 7:50 PM, when the student was finally able to head home safely.
“The student was already aware of the situation because the teachers and security guard had informed her that there was flooding and that some roads were inaccessible,
“Thankfully, the student remained calm and understood the situation very well. We also contacted her mother to inform her about the situation and to let her know that we would arrange alternative transportation if her usual van did not arrive,” she said.
Addressing misconceptions online, the user clarified that the delay was purely due to weather conditions and urged the public not to point fingers at parents or transport providers. She emphasised that the post was meant to highlight the hidden realities of a teacher’s duty rather than expose anyone’s faults.

“We become a second family to our students”
Reflecting on the dedication required in the profession, the user noted that she was not alone during the long wait. The afternoon senior assistant (Penolong Kanan Petang), the security guard, and a few other teachers who had yet to go home also stayed behind to support the student’s safety.
“I think many people see teaching as a job that ends when the school bell rings, but in reality, a teacher’s responsibility goes beyond the classroom. Sometimes, we become a second family to our students. We look after their safety, care about their well-being, listen to their problems and make sure they are okay, even after school hours.
“There are many little things teachers do every day that often go unnoticed. We may not always talk about these sacrifices, but we do them because we genuinely care about our students. At the end of the day, teaching is not just about delivering lessons, but also about shaping lives and making sure no student feels left behind.” the user shared with WORLD OF BUZZ.
The user also expressed heartfelt gratitude to netizens for recognising that a teacher’s commitment extends far beyond academic instruction.
