It’s almost certain that at any major assembly there will be that one person or a several few who may have near zero understanding of what the assembly is about.
The recently concluded anti-ICERD rally is no different. When a makcik was placed in the media spotlight and forced to answer tough questions about the ratification of ICERD, she just couldn’t.
Ok.. Makcik ni rare sikit jawapannya.. Aku konpius apa yg makcik ni cuba sampaikan sbnrnya?? pic.twitter.com/6DGRCkcb3X

Having difficulty in answering the questions brought up by the reporter, the makcik was helped throughout the interview by a friend who seemed to be better at managing the tough questions.
This grew from bad to worse for the makcik when several individuals went on to Twitter to condemn her inability to answer.
Laughing my ass off watching all these anti-ICERD interviews. Half of these people don’t even know why they’re rallying.
“Aaaaaaa ICERD ni ialah…..aaaaa untuk bantah……aaaaaaa….”
BANTAH APA, MAK CIK? BANTAH APA?

A netizen commented: “Laughing my a** off watching all these anti-ICERD interviews. Half of these people don’t even know why they’re rallying.”
The tweet garnered further traction with over 1397 retweets and 800 likes.
Commenting on her tweet, one netizen wrote: “If you are convicted about the cause, providing an answer is not a problem.”
Despite the fervent condemnation of the makcik’s inability to answer on the subject of ICERD, some were more critical towards the tweet.
A respondent wrote: “You shouldn’t laugh. They are being lied to by certain quarters. You should be concerned that some don’t even know why the government won’t ratify ICERD. We must try harder to educate, not ridicule.”
Was the makcik victimized by the media in this video? Do you agree with the netizen that we should strive to educate instead of condemning one another? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
