Getting presents for your loved ones can be an ordeal sometimes as it’s difficult to choose the right one for them. This Hong Kong girl had been together with her boyfriend for about six months and decided to commemorate this by making a homemade gift for him which went unappreciated.

She decided to put together an explosion memory box with all their sweet memories inside as a surprise for him. In case you didn’t know, an explosion memory box looks like a gift box but when you open it, the sides of the box fall open to reveal a large multi-layered card. People usually fill this card with loving messages, photos, stickers or even little gifts, depending on their fancy.
It isn’t easy to make one, as it requires lots of time and effort and the girl was determined to make a memorable one for her boyfriend as a surprise, ET Today reported. She planned it out properly and went shopping for the materials such as papers, stickers and other craft paraphernalia.

When her boyfriend saw her buying all these things, he would often ask her why she liked to buy “garbage” so much. Still, she did not mind and continued making the box, hopeful that it would move her boyfriend when he received it. She filled it with photos of their happy moments together, heartfelt messages and pretty decorations, certain that her boyfriend would cherish the memories she had placed inside.
When she finally gave him the completed explosion memory box that she had painstakingly created, to her disappointment, he just took one look and said, “This is useless rubbish.” Shocked by this, she said that she felt like crying when she heard him say this.

However, he did not feel guilty for his words even when she said that she had spent a lot of time making the box. Instead, he retorted, “Well, it really is rubbish. What can I do with it?” He acted like everything was fine between them but the girl was heartbroken by this dismissal of her efforts.
She shared her experience on Facebook, asking netizens whether she was stupid or overreacting. “Normally, when I make any cards for him he would just ignore it and not even read the messages I’ve written inside unless I open it for him to see. Do you guys think I’m stupid? Spending so much time to make this for him but in the end, he doesn’t even like it. I should’ve just stopped getting gifts for him.”

Netizens were shocked that her boyfriend would treat her like this and consoled her, saying that her boyfriend didn’t know how to appreciate her. Some of them said that she should’ve gotten something that he would have liked instead of a memory box.
