“Is M’sia out of trash cans?” – Netizens Enraged After Photos Show Men Openly Using Puchong River As Rubbish Dump

Seeing individuals treat public waterways like their personal rubbish bin never fails to spark outrage among concerned citizens!

Taking to Threads, user @jayj4yqt posted a series of photos showing individuals openly discarding waste into a river in Taman Puchong Intan around 7 PM on October 29.

“Here’s another thing I don’t get. Are there seriously no trash cans in Malaysia? It’s already smelly every day. Can someone explain why people love dumping stuff into rivers and drains like this? Give me a logical answer. I really want to know,” the user wrote in a viral post.

Caught in the act: Waste tossed straight into the river

According to the user, the incident took place near Puchong Intan, where individuals were spotted unloading and tossing waste into the river bank.

The pictures posted online clearly captured two men carrying containers and dumping trash straight over the railing onto the river slope below, right next to a parked black vehicle.

The post quickly caught fire on social media, gathering thousands of likes and reposts from furious netizens calling out the disregard for civic cleanliness and environmental protection.

User calls for stricter enforcement & community action

Speaking exclusively to WORLD OF BUZZ, the user expressed deep concern over the persistent issue of illegal waste dumping and urged both local authorities and the public to take decisive action.

“I hope the local authorities will take stricter action against illegal dumping by increasing patrols, installing CCTV cameras at dumping hotspots, and issuing heavy fines to those responsible.

“I also hope the community will play its part by reporting illegal dumping instead of turning a blind eye. We need to protect our drains and rivers because pollution affects everyone, including future generations. Keeping Malaysia clean is a shared responsibility, not just the authorities’ job,” the user told WORLD OF BUZZ.

For major river or chemical pollution, members of the public are encouraged to lodge an immediate report via the Department of Environment (JAS) toll-free line at 1-800-88-2727.

Netizens’ reactions

“We should do it like Taiwan. When people report illegal dumping with complete evidence, they get a share of the fine. Top informants can even get up to RM100k.”

“Throwing away organic things like flowers and plants that will degrade on their own is totally fine. Plastic and other materials that don’t dissolve are the real issue.”

“Report it to the municipal council so they get fined and have to do community service… like cleaning toilets…”
