Teacher’s Day in Malaysia is getting more and more creative as we speak. Instead of the usual gift-giving tradition, a lot of schools are stepping up this year to make the occasion more unique and memorable.

In a recent video shared by a teacher, @cikguding took to his TikTok to give us a peek into his Teacher’s Day celebration at a school in Terengganu.

“If not a teacher”

In the video, the teachers are seen gathering to celebrate Teacher’s Day, dressed not as teachers, but as something entirely different from their profession.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Cikgu Ding revealed that the school had chosen the theme “If not a teacher,” allowing all teachers to dress up as a different profession they would have chosen if they weren’t teachers.

What made the theme unique was that the teachers were dressed up as a food rider, a security guard, a delivery parcel man, a doctor, and one even wore a traditional Islamic outfit, among others.

The theme carries a deeper meaning

Cikgu Ding continued to share the message that the school is trying to convey, emphasising the importance of respecting everyone, regardless of their occupation.

He noted that even if someone isn’t destined to be a teacher, the importance of respecting everyone remains the same because every good job has its own qualities that we can learn from.

“Even if teaching isn’t our calling, respecting others stays important because every good job out there has its own values.”

The students love the idea of seeing their teachers dressed up differently than usual!

Cikgu Ding shared how excited all the students were upon seeing their teachers dressed up in different professions. He even jokingly remarked that even the garang teachers had to participate without exception, and how adorable they looked.

He went on to share a reminder with everyone, saying,

“Appreciate educators because without them, the continuity of knowledge would be disrupted. And for all the teachers out there, never lose hope in educating.”
