Rules are rules, and you should expect consequences if you have violated the rules that are there to keep people safe and avoid inconveniences.
Not long ago, a flat in Keramat Wangsa, KL went viral when one of the residents extended his unit with 3 levels of balcony. Just recently, DBKL revealed on their FB post that they have deployed some officers to take down the metal grill at a flat in Wangsa Maju.
The decision was made after the resident ignored multiple notices from DBKL which have been issued back since January this year.
The notices specified that all metal grills would be taken down if the resident failed to comply with the instructions. And since the notices were ignored, DBKL finally removed the iron grill structure at noon yesterday in a coordinated operation.
The operation involved several other departments such as the Enforcement Department in collaboration with the Property Valuation and Management Department, the Health and Environment Department, the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department (JKME), the Building Control Department, and the Wangsa Maju Branch Office as well as the Royal Malaysian Police team.
“Through this enforcement action, DBKL has removed iron grills that were installed without approval and obstructed public corridors under the offense of Section 46, Roads, Drains and Buildings Act 1974,” said DBKL.
The remains of the uprooted iron structure have been moved to JKME Store, Jalan Cheras for further action and documentation of the disposal process.
The rules are there for a reason. We hope all residents, regardless of where they are will always follow the rules set by the authorities.
