The global magazine further elaborated that Sri Lanka is like a miniature India with its own unique charm, making it the perfect first stop for women solo travellers to start their journeys in South Asia.

The country is also popular with backpackers, and Time Out says it’s the perfect size for a week or a month of travel.

According to the global magazine, the country has many destinations worth exploring, including ancient Unesco-listed sites such as Dambulla and Sigiriya and the tea plantations in Nuwara Eliya.

The article added that the golden beaches of Arugam Bay, Mirissa and Hikkaduwa promise beachfront hostels, surfing and delicious local food for travellers.
