Growing up we’ve encountered some garang teachers at school, but it looks like the tables have turned now.
An article by MustShareNews shared how Singaporean teachers are being bullied by their own students AND their parents.
Cak Cak Kuti, an education centre in Singapore, conducted a poll on their Instagram stories, asking the teachers to share experiences of workplace bullying.
One teacher said they were falsely accused of scolding a student and throwing a chair at him. The student even went to the police station to report the teacher and spread the rumour to other teachers. The Ministry of Education even got involved in this!
Another teacher revealed that a parent told them, “You’re just a teacher, what do you know?” during a parent-teacher meeting.
Some parents are indeed blinded by their love towards their children and defend them unnecessarily.
In another case, a student lied to his mother that his teacher chased him out of the class. But according to the teacher, the student was busy chatting with a friend.
To prevent other students from getting distracted, the teacher asked him to leave the class. However, the mother claimed that her son was discussing Math with his friend, while the teacher said their books were only opened at the table of contents page!
Another teacher experienced racism when a student’s grandmother told her to remove her hijab.
The grandma said that if the teacher removed it, then maybe her grandson would learn to like her (while the student is only 3 years old)! WTF?!
Worse still, the principal of the school supported the grandmother’s suggestion. But in any case, the student already liked the teacher very much.
Cak Cak Kuti shared the compilation of these responses and confessions on their Facebook page, shedding some light on a matter that’s not commonly discussed.
We can’t confirm the credibility of these confessions, but if teachers are indeed bullied at school, then it shouldn’t even happen in the first place! Have you encountered similar cases? Share with us in the comments!
