One of the similarities that Malaysia shares with Singapore is the fact that we are able to live together despite our race & religion. At times, there may be differences but at the end of day, all of us would respect each other.

Just recently, according to Sin Chew Daily, a Singaporean interracial couple was reportedly spat on while walking around at a shopping mall.

As the couple was holding hands, walking out from a famous clothing store in the shopping mall, a stranger walked towards them and spat on them.

“This Chinese man who looked like he’s in 20s walked over to us and spat at us. I’ve never met this man in my entire life and was shocked when he did that”, he said.

As the whole ordeal happened so quickly, he wasn’t able to react until his girlfriend shouted at the Chinese man with profanities. It was only then that he realised he was spat on.

Before the Chinese man left, he exclaimed “He doesn’t deserve to date a Chinese girl”.

Many netizens were outraged by the audacity of the man who spat on the couple.

“This is not even a racial problem anymore, it’s a mentality problem.”

“Perhaps they were brought up with racial stereotypes or because he didn’t have any encounters with interracial couples, causing him to react in such a way.”

Spit 1

“Some people are so weird, it’s their relationship, why should it bother you that they’re in an interracial relationship? Such a cheap mentality!”

Spit

“It’s her relationship, not yours, why do you care who she dates?”

Spit 3

It’s distasteful to judge someone based on their race because at the end of the day we are all humans. One shouldn’t be rude to another just because of their skin colour. We urge netizens to please refrain from attacking anybody based on race as it’s a mentality issue.
