A Malaysian man was left stunned after waking up to find more than RM1 billion credited to his bank account in what appeared to be a Merdeka and Malaysia Day cash reward promotion.
The user, @wmfwza, shared a screenshot on Threads showing the eye-watering amount listed as a cash reward in his AEON Bank account.

“My wife and I were in shock!”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the user recalled discovering the unexpected credit and immediately contacting his wife about the jaw-dropping amount.
“Since it happened around her birthday, it made the whole situation even more unforgettable! We were both shocked and couldn’t believe what we were seeing.
“It was definitely a moment we’ll laugh about for a long time,” he said.
Rather than leaving the unusual transaction unreported, the account holder promptly alerted AEON Bank about the apparent system error.
The bank subsequently resolved the issue and removed the extra amount from his account.
In a follow-up post, the user shared that bank representatives had thanked him for his honesty and mentioned that they would send him a token of appreciation via email.

Hopes for a little reward to treat his wife
Despite the unexpected windfall that briefly appeared in his account, the user said he hoped AEON Bank might consider giving him a small reward for reporting the issue promptly.
“I believe doing the right thing is important, regardless of the amount involved,” he emphasised.
