Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and anyone close to him has been under the spotlight after the historical loss of Barisan Nasional (BN) during GE14. However, perhaps one of the most highly scrutinised individual would be his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Now, an exclusive report by New Straits Times said that she is expected to be formally charged for money laundering activities very soon, as investigators are tying up the loose ends in the probe. Apparently, this investigation had started more than two years ago but the “Rosmah file” was only revived three months ago as the previous government had hushed things up. Just like many other similar investigations!

The re-opening of the investigation coincided to the time that Rosmah was called to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in June. She was there for more than three hours allegedly to answer questions in regards to the probe connected to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of scandal-ridden 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

As a result of that probe, Najib faced four charges in court which he pleaded not guilty but sources told NST that he may be answering more charges by end of September. In Rosmah’s case, people close to the investigation said that she could very well be facing as many as 20 criminal charges, with most of them linked to money laundering.

However, there is one charge in the list that is slightly different from the others, which involved Rosmah allegedly using more than RM1 million from SRC to buy hormone-based anti-ageing products from the United States.

It was reported that these supplements helped in improving energy levels, helped the user have better sleep, increased their sex drives, decreased body fat, boosted lean muscle mass and improved skin complexion by raising growth hormone levels by over 600%. Did the supplements work?

The payment for these miracle supplements was paid to a doctor who had a “Datuk” title in February 2015. He was given over RM1 million for two sets of medication, which were reportedly worth more than RM500,000 each. In addition, sources said that Rosmah bought a “100 per cent plant-based health food to stimulate the human body to maintain youth, vigour and vitality, supposedly with anti-ageing properties.”

The AmIslamic account number on the cheques issued to the doctor was linked to Najib but has since been closed, just weeks after the payment was made. The doctor, who was a vice-president of a society in his area of expertise, has resigned as he did not want to drag the society into this controversy.

Now, we wait with bated breath to see what happens next!
