A robber recently targetted a petite lady thinking that she would be an easy victim. However, that didn’t turn out well for the man as the 22-year-old lady, Sabrina Leite, is actually pretty good at Brazilian jiu-jitsu. This robbery took place in the Jorge Teixeira neighbourhood of Manaus, Brazil.
According to The Sun, Sabrina was hanging out in front of her house when two men on a motorcycle approached her. One of them then walked up to her and asked Sabrina to hand over her phone. Wrong move, bro.
“I could feel that they didn’t have anything (weapons), they just arrived scarily saying ‘pass the phone’. I saw they didn’t have anything and that’s why I reacted. If they were armed, I would never have reacted,” Sabrina said.
Sabrina who was quick to respond then threw her phone into her house, which shocked the robber. He tried to flee on the motorcycle but was knocked down by a neighbour who was passing by in his car.
“He was running away. My neighbour went after him in the car and drove into him. Then I ran and immobilised him with a sleeper hold. I lay on the ground and put him in an arm lock,” Sabrina added.
The dramatic scene was recorded by a passerby and the video went viral on social media. The robber’s arm was trapped and locked between Sabrina’s legs and the man screamed in excruciating pain as she twisted his wrist.
“It’s all a question of technique. I’ve been training for four years, I’m still a white belt. Ranking and belts don’t matter to me,” she said.
Here’s the video.
She only loosened up the arm lock some 20 minutes later after the police arrived. The suspect was later arrested and brought to court for attempted robbery while his accomplice is still at large.
It definitely takes a lot of courage to confront robbers and we salute Sabrina for her bravery. Honestly, we don’t think any robber would dare to go near her house after this.
