Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has been receiving a bunch of flak lately. From wearing a costly designer shirt to allegedly paying people off to greet him at the airport, everything he does seems to draw backlash.

Well, it appears that even when washing his own plate, he causes disappointment and outrage among the people.

The Coffee Break Twitter page recently took to their profile to share a now-deleted TikTok video from Ismail Sabri’s official account, where he can be seen apparently washing his own plate after a meal.

The Coffee Break wrote, “1,001 signs of the impending General Elections.”

While many believed that the Prime Minister was only washing his plate as a publicity stunt to look more relatable, a netizen pointed out that the incident took place at the Institut Latihan Memperkasa Ummah (ILMU), an UMNO training centre where everyone is required to wash their own plate.

“Here, all the participants, Division Heads, MKT UMNO, even the UMNO President washes their own plates. It’s not weird. What’s weird is that someone is recording,” the netizen shared.

The million dollar question still remains, why did he show it off on his official TikTok account?

It’s safe to say that people were not impressed

One user commented, “It’s fortunate for leaders to have people taking care of them and taking videos while they wash their plate.”

“Washing plates, my great grandfather also can do.”

“Okay, and? Are we supposed to go ‘wow’,” asked a netizen.

One netizen pointed out that it appeared as if he’s merely washing a plate that was already clean.
