Those who are struggling to put food on the table often times are forced to rely on the kindness of others.

And most of the time, these people are happier to know that their fellow community members care about them, when they are treated to a meal.

Penang eatery, Nasi Kandar Sulaiman (NKS), took to their Facebook page to showcase how a kind customer decided to treat an elderly man to a meal and how grateful the elderly man felt upon knowing that a stranger cares for his wellbeing.

Meal 1 1

They wrote, “There was this one sister who came to dine in, when she was leaving she saw a Pak Cik coming into NKS. She just looked at the Pak Cik and immediately came to the counter to tell us that she wants to treat him to a meal.”

“The Pak Cik asked for just rice and chicken livers, so the sister who wanted to treat him told him to take other dishes as well, but the Pak Cik said he did not have money. The sister told him that it was okay as she was treating him. So, the Pak Cik took rice and a piece of fish and a Teh O’ Ais.”

The elderly man felt truly happy in that moment, not just because he got to have a proper meal but also because a stranger took care of him in his time of need.

“This Pak Cik immediately became happy, not because he got to eat fish but he was happy as he felt that there are people who care for him. We believe that there are many other elderly people like this Pak Cik who only eat rice without dishes as they cannot afford it,”

“For those of us who are still young, we need to help them. It’s enough to be able to treat them to a meal. Additionally, if we can chitchat with them, it’ll make them even happier. If it doesn’t start with us then who else is going to take care of these unfortunate elderly people?” they added.

Conducting good deeds can truly make our world a better place, even if it’s only for 1 person.
