Kuan Chee Heng, popularly known as Uncle Kentang, is a local hero who has dedicated his life to helping the needy and for anyone who is in need of financial aid.

However, being selfless does come with a price, and this time Uncle Kentang has been ordered by his doctor to take a break from answering phone calls to avoid stress.

Taking to his Facebook page, Uncle Kentang shared that his doctor has advised him to be away from his phone for at least thirty days to help improve his mental health.

“The doctor told me that if I keep on receiving phone calls, I could end up with mental health issues,” he wrote in his post.

“One day, I get at least 100 incoming phone calls from those who are having problems. That does not include the WhatsApp messages that I get as well.”

He added that the people who have reached out to him for help were victims of rape, abuse or have been abandoned by their spouses. Besides that, he also receives calls from those in need of financial aid in terms of paying water bills, electricity bills and children’s education.

He added the post saying, “The doctor has told me to turn off my phone for thirty days. However, I will only accept emergency calls, for any accident cases.”

“I will come back to serve, but for now, I need rest.”

Thank you for all your hard work Uncle Kentang! Please take care of yourself and get well soon!
