Local brand Dissyco is slammed by netizens for plagiarising the design of G-Dragon’s clothing line, Peaceminusone.

On 29 May, Dissyco shared some pictures of its latest clothing series called “Why so Serious” on its Facebook page. There are several new designs, and some of them are what seems like a “parody” version of Korean pop star G-Dragon’s fashion line, Peaceminusone.

The design utilises a similar daisy graphic, with the phrase “Penisminusonecm” below. The font and the strikethrough of the phrase are almost identical to the logo of G-Dragon’s brand.

Netizens took to the comment section to slam the brand for plagiarising and not be ashamed of it. “Congratulations for bringing shame on Malaysia. Justifying yourself even though it’s clearly plagiarism. Being trendy is not copying others, hope you really know what you are doing,” a netizen commented.

One

“Don’t know how to respect intellectual property, only know how to bring shame on our country,” another user said.

Four

Another user shared the logo and website of Peaceminusone and said, “Do you want to take a look at what you have designed?”

Three

“Copied too closely, don’t hold on to the excuse of following the demands of the masses, and rubbing off other people’s effort with no fear.”

Two

Regarding all the comments which criticise the brand, Dissyco only responded with “Why so serious?”. Besides plagiarising, some netizens also think that the brand is vulgar and low, as it uses Malaysian foul languages in most of the designs.

In contrast with the negative comments, some showcased their support and think that the designs are nice, and said that they would like to purchase them. As of the time of writing, the post received more than 2k of angry reactions.
