Calling all civil servants, it’s time to rejoice because our prime minster has some good news for you!

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently announced that there will be not one, but two increments for all government employees this year! Besides the annual salary increments, an additional increment will be given out to 1.6 million government employees on July 1, The Star reported.

“This was in recognition of your loyalty, support and dedication towards the government. You have all helped the government in serving the people, in executing all our initiatives so that the rakyat enjoys all the benefits. This additional increment is the government’s recognition of your service,” Najib said at the 16th Civil Service Premier Gathering (MAPPA XVI) today (March 4).

Also present at the event were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Cabinet ministers, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Zainal Rahim Seman and Cuepacs president Datuk Azih Muda.

According to the Malay Mail Online, the increment would be equivalent to one annual salary raise (1KGT), which will cost the government RM1.46 billion in total. Whoa, that’s a big sum!

“This means that civil servants will receive an additional annual salary increment on top of the annual salary movement for 2018,” he said as quoted by the New Straits Times.

The incentive is part of the string of goodies for civil servants announced by Najib during his speech at the function, which includes a new grade – DG56 – for teachers effective January 1, 2019 and additional seven days of unrecorded leave for non-Muslim civil servants so they can perform their religious activities.

You may check out the other incentives here as summarised by NST.

Erm boss, gaji ada naik tak?
