The things we do for the person we love can sometimes go beyond our imagination. A Malaysian entrepreneur recently spent RM12,000 to decorate his wife’s telekung (prayer garment) with crystal stones.
The best part is, Syed Muhammad Syah Hasif Syed Othman took his sweet time to encrust the crystal stones onto the prayer garment all by himself, as revealed on his TikTok post @syed.fatin.jaeden.haifa. He wanted to give his wife something different and at the same time, he wanted the prayer garment to last long.
His idea to surprise his wife came after the latter saw another prayer garment with pieces of jewellery on it, which she was excited about. However, she has never mentioned or asked anything from Syed. The man took that as his cue and planned a surprise for his queen.
“I encrusted the crystal stones onto the prayer garment myself so that she can wear it for prayers during this Ramadhan.”
To Syed, it was nowhere near a wastage, despite the high cost. To Syed, there is nothing wrong with spicing up the prayer garments for prayer purposes. It took Syed 1 week to encrust the crystal stones onto the prayer garment.
“It’s not just for one-time use or when going to Tarawih prayers, but even when you want to pray at home or perform your pilgrimage at Mecca, you can use it.”
In another report by Berita Harian, Syed said it’s up to those who are judging his decision because it’s never his intention to show off. All he hopes is that his wife will like the surprise.
“If you can afford it, I don’t see why not. If you can’t, it’s fine to just use what you have with you,” Syed said.
