Some of us might remember collecting some money in school to decorate our classroom to make it look more cheerful and comfortable. Some schools even make a competition out of it!
As for these parents, their child is only a Standard 1 student, therefore, the idea of letting the students decorate their classroom seems a bit far-fetched.
Especially when the classroom looks like this.
After the tweet of him and a group of people cleaning up a Chinese family’s house to let them celebrate Chinese New Year comfortably went viral, the same guy, Fairuz Al-Jengkawi, decided to spend some money and effort decorating his child’s classroom during the CNY holiday.
So when most people went back to their hometowns to spend their holidays with their family and friends, this family dropped by SK Taman Uda, Alor Setar to clean up the classroom.
He tweeted that he first discussed the idea with his wife, and she instantly agreed to help.
First, some of the walls with patches and tape residue were covered with cute cloud-patterned wallpaper.
And then they cleaned up the classroom and painted it bright mint green!
The old furniture, as Fairuz stated, is “a sore in the eye”, so he decided to paint them white, making them look new and brighter.
The study tables had a glow-up from scratches and scribble-marked wood surfaces to nicely covered tables with skirting!
And instead of old flashcards covering the windows, the family put up some bright-coloured curtains to bring the ambience up.
Fairuz added that he had help from other parents and his children, and he also had to pay some university students to help paint the classroom. He also believes this responsibility is his as a parent, and the teachers should focus solely on teaching.
It’s amazing how things went from this:
To this!
Kudos to this father and the other parents who have helped brighten up and decorate the classroom to make it look more fun and comfortable to be in.
We hope every parent can take this as an inspiration to help make schools a better experience for their children!
