The recent floods across Malaysia have seen many people coming together to offer help and supplies to those affected.
Just like influencer Khairul Aming, another influencer also stepped up to help flood victims, recently visiting a flood evacuation centre to offer her assistance.
“It’s raining season”
Her good intentions to help ended up backfiring when she showed up at the centre wearing a winter coat with a fur hood.
In the video, the local entrepreneur @julianamazlan425 visited an evacuation centre in Kelantan to offer some supplies and assistance.
However, she showed up wearing a winter coat and carrying a luxury-brand handbag, which quickly caught everyone’s attention.
The video has sparked a discussion among netizens, with many feeling like her outfit didn’t suit the situation. One user even pointed out how it’s the monsoon season, not yet winter.
“Thank you for your assistance, sister. But right now it’s the monsoon season, not yet winter.”
Despite her efforts to offer help, some netizens were quick to mock her choice of outfit.
“What’s the purpose of visiting flood victims wearing winter clothes.”
“I bet she’s been waiting for a long time to make use of the winter coat.”
“I don’t get why she’d visit flood victims while carrying an expensive handbag.”
“Showing up in winter clothes and carrying a luxury bag.”
However, there were still others who appreciated her intentions and acknowledged her efforts.
“Thank you, kind soul. May your blessings increase, and may everything be eased for all the flood victims.”
“Even people who come to help get criticised.”
“I wasn’t intentionally trying to look ‘glamorous'”
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Puan Juliana explained that her decision to wear the winter coat was because it was raining at the time, and it wasn’t her intention to come across as “glamorous” like how netizens portrayed it.
“It was raining, and my team and I didn’t want to carry an umbrella. So, I just asked my daughter to grab any coat with a hood. As for the backlash from netizens, I accept it all because my team and I had one goal, which is to help the flood victims, and that’s exactly what we did, no matter what anyone else says.”
