Just several days ago, a local Malaysian influencer, Dennis shared his unfortunate encounter with a famous alcoholic brand director. The influencer shared that last weekend, he was invited to an invite-only event.
What happened
According to Dennis, he was invited to an event held at a bar in Petaling Jaya. While he was dancing at the bar a man came up to him and slapped him across his face. The man then told Dennis to “Fxxx off! Leave now!” and asked his entourage to escort Dennis out. Feeling shocked and in disbelief, he walked away from the situation as he felt like he did something wrong.
After thinking through, he realised that he neither did anything wrong nor did he provoke the man. “The event didn’t state that you can’t dance, and I did not do anything to provoke him”, he said.
Why can’t he apologise?
Dennis then decided to approach the man who had assaulted him. When he confronted the man, the man started acting clueless and refused to apologise to Dennis.
“His whole entourage was apologising on behalf of him and was hoping that I’ll let it go.”, Dennis added.
After some researching, it appeared that the man who hit Dennis works for a famous alcohol brand.
Police report lodged
Dennis decided to take this matter onto his Instagram. While sharing what had happened on his Instagram profile, Dennis also mentioned that he has made a police report.
In the 22-minute-long live video, Dennis urged all other victims to come forward if they have had any unpleasant or similar experiences with that man.
“I have the CCTV footage from the bar that shows the incident and a few witnesses who are willing to come forward. I’ve spoken to the company that the man is working for, and they’ve mentioned that they’re unable to take any actions against him now as they’re in no position to do so. Unfortunately, this is all I’m able to share but with time, I will definitely share more”, he added.
Dennis expressed that he felt very humiliated and disrespected when the incident happened.
“I was humiliated in front of many important people that night. The last time I was slapped was many years ago and it was my dad who slapped me. You’re not my dad, who are you to slap me?” he said.
Lastly, he mentioned that he hopes justice will be served and that assaulting another person isn’t okay and that they shouldn’t get away with it.
Assaulting someone is never okay and if you’re a victim, please do not be afraid to voice out. Your voice matters.
