It’s durian season and everyone is going crazy over the thorny fruit. This very season has already seen some very interesting new recipes, be it durian whiskey, durian Milo kaw, durian Tealive drinks, and other crazy durian creations. But, in the process of creating any of those ‘masterpieces’, have you ever imagined an accident so epic you can’t help but laugh?
Well, this actually happened, according to a viral tweet by @narzam86off. The person actually just wanted to make some good, old-fashioned normal tempoyak, and not one of those unique “cuisines”.

You can see from the tweet that it was indeed “durian runtuh” in the images, which were allegedly taken in Terengganu. The bottle was being used to facilitate the fermentation process in making tempoyak. But little did they that know that it could result in such a horrifying mess.

As this family was awaiting the fermentation process to begin proper, the durians that were kept in the bottle suddenly exploded. This made the kitchen a terrifying place to be in for those who dislike the smell of durian.

You can see how high the explosion was – it even managed to reach the ceiling of the house!
Apparently, according to @narzam86off, there’s actually a scientific reason to why this incident had actually happened. No, it’s not like those fictional failed attempts of brewing magical potions like in Harry Potter.
Wah ramai tak tahu!Ye tempoyak mngandungi gas terpendam.Peminat2 tempoyak silalah jgn tutup rapat penutup bekas tu,kasi release gas lepas gaul garam untuk simpan especially yg fresh dari durian tu.Takde apa nak promote, doakn pemilik rumah permudahkn urusan dia ckup la ?

“Wow, apparently not many knew this! Yes, tempoyak contains trapped gasses. To all those tempoyak fans, please do not tightly close the lid of the container, let the gasses be released after mixing the durian with salt for storage, especially for fresh durians.”
Netizens were really amused with this messy yet funny incident and couldn’t help to share what they thought of it.

“Good luck withstanding the smell for one whole week.”

We really pity the person who unfortunately experienced this borderline funny explosion incident. Cleaning up the mess is a tough job, but withstanding the smell that’s going to last for days? Ooof, good luck with that.
