Michelle Yeoh Makes History Again For Being The First Female Asian To Win SAG Awards Best Lead Role!
Legendary Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has once again made history, this time at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
With her win as best female actor in a leading role for ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once‘, she became the first woman of Asian descent to win the individual acting honour.
Netflix took to their YouTube channel to share her acceptance speech, where Yeoh received a standing ovation and so much love from her fellow actors as she accepted the award presented by actor Jeff Bridges.
“I think if I speak, my heart will explode. SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), to get this from you, who understands what it is to get here. Every one of you know the journey, the roller coaster ride, the ups and downs.”
“But most important, we never give up. I thank you, for your love, for your support, because I know I’m up against Titans, rightly so,” she shared during her speech.
While holding back so many emotions, she then let a string of profanities fly, “Sh*t. F*ck! WOW!”
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is not just for me. This is for every little girl that looks like me,” she then added.
