Garlic has many health benefits even though some of us may not like the taste of it. According to Arthritis.org, “it contains diallyl disulfide, an anti-inflammatory compound that limits the effects of pro-inflammatory cytokines”. This means that garlic can help fight pain and inflammation.
However, some people might take those health benefits a little too far.
Wang, a man from Shandong Province, China, often couldn’t sleep at night because of a horrible ear ache. One day, he saw a video on the Internet which claimed that garlic could treat inflammation, reported China Press.
The video mentions that garlic contains allicin – a compound produced when garlic is crushed or chopped – which is anti-inflammatory and can treat ear pain, headache and other symptoms.
So, the man decided to peel one clove of raw garlic, chopped it into two and stuffed one of the pieces into his ear like earplugs. However, the piece of garlic got stuck inside his ear and he couldn’t get it out.
I mean, he should’ve seen that coming right?
Wang immediately went to the hospital for treatment, and with the help of a doctor, the garlic was successfully retrieved from his ear.
The doctor said that there is no basis for saying that garlic should be used as an anti-inflammatory remedy for ear pain, and advised Wang to seek medical treatment instead.
He added that he should not believe in remedies from unknown origins.
Earlier, in the UK, a woman who suffered from vaginitis stuffed raw garlic into her vagina because of something she read online. However, this caused her vagina to become severely hot and swollen.
Why are people stuffing raw food into their body parts, and why do they think it’s a good idea?
