We’re sure loads of you remember ‘The Great Nasi Lemak Burger War of July 2016′ between Singapore and Malaysia. People were going absolutely nuts over the sudden influx of nasi lemak-inspired burgers popping up in the two countries, who were both trying their best to outdo each other every step of the way. I mean, it’s no secret we both take our nasi lemak very seriously!
Thankfully, things have calmed down since then, but it seems like we’ve moved on to yet another Malaysian-Western hybrid!
Just last week, FungryTV announced their ambitious collaboration with Grub on their Facebook page – a ‘char kuey teow‘ burger.
The burger’s patty itself is a delicious omelette stuffed with classic ‘char kuey teow‘ ingredients such as prawns, cockles, spring onions, taugeh (bean sprouts), and duck egg yolk, sandwiched between two toasted buns. Chefs Razif Hashim and Ahong tried their best to encapsulate the signature ‘wok hei‘ (charred) taste of traditional ‘char kuey teow‘ in this burger.
Check out what it looks like!
Get in my belly!
Loads of Malaysians have expressed interest in trying out the burger but sadly, it’s not available to the public for now. So, eager to try it out? Well, you can help make that a reality with a simple pledge!
All you have to do is comment on FungryTV’s video and tag all your friends. You better hurry, though, because they need 1,000 pledges by 16th September!
Remember to tag as many people as possible so they can hit their 1,000 pledge mark by the deadline so you can get to try their ‘char kuey teow’ burger!
