This beggar is richer than most of us who have a day job, can you believe that?!

In an operation conducted by Penang State Welfare Department, the enforcers were shocked to discover a female beggar who carried RM8,000 cash with her.

According to China Press, it was reported that besides the cash, she also has RM40,000 stashed in her bank account as fixed deposit!

She then further disclosed that she owned a house right in the centre of Georgetown, Penang.

Okay, she’s a baller, not a beggar alright.

“After the enforcers had a talk with the woman, they found out that the beggar had no family members nor relatives, so she resorted to begging on the street,” said the State Health, Welfare, Caring Society and Environment chairman Phee Boon Poh.

“Their (beggars) ‘income’ can easily reach RM400 per day and they get free meals. Besides, they also have free access to bathing, battery-charging and resting place,” he added.

All they have to do is sit there and wait, as kind-hearted Malaysians would deliver breakfast, lunch and dinner to them. Sometimes they even receive supper from the public as well! Their average income ranges from RM300 to RM400 per day.

“This is why the government is urging the public to donate wisely to avoid being cheated by the beggars,” Phee said.

Clearly, Malaysians’ kindness have been exploited by these group of people as the number of beggars are escalating. “Many of the beggars who were rescued by the welfare department went back to their old lives, and started begging on the street again,” according to Phee.

So, what’s your thought on this? Would you still donate to beggars the next time you see them on the street?
