Recently, a child was almost “caught” by the police for playing too much with the viral toy – “Lato-Lato”.
In case you’re not aware, Lato-Lato has gone viral on social media for the past few months, and it’s basically 2 plastic balls connected with a string. The players have to swing the balls up and down by putting a finger into the string.
In Kuantan, a child recently cried “for help” when a couple of Abang Polis in their patrol car was “waiting” to catch her for playing too much with the toy.
The 2 Abang Polis did not even come down from their car, but their presence was enough to convince the child to throw the toy away.
“I don’t want to play anymore. I’m going to throw it!” the child cried.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Azlinda, the child’s aunt said that the Abang Polis even turned on the siren for a bit to play along, which terrified her niece. Azlinda was with her niece and other relatives at a beach in Kuantan, Pahang during the incident. They were in the car while waiting for their food, and coincidentally, the policemen in the patrol car passed by the family and said hi to them.
“That was when we decided to prank her, and told the police that she’s obsessed with the Lato-Lato toy,” Azlinda said.
She also told WORLD OF BUZZ that her 7-year-old niece got the viral toy 2 weeks ago and since then, she has been playing with it a lot.
“Since that toy can be dangerous, we made sure she played it somewhere safe, not anywhere near fragile items.”
Azlinda revealed that her niece has always been terrified of the police, but she doesn’t know why. When asked, Azlinda said that her niece stopped crying not long after the Abang Polis left the scene. Thanks to their presence, her niece might be done with Lato-Lato once and for all.
“She said she’s not going to play it anymore, and she’s going to burn it,” Azlinda told WORLD OF BUZZ.

Here’s a little bit about the viral Lato-Lato game. In contrast to popular beliefs, Lato-Lato did not originate from Indonesia, but from the United States of America, where it’s commonly known as the clackers ball. In Italy, it’s known as Lato, which means side. The game was banned in the 60s for its dangerous elements.
Back then, it could explode because it was made from acrylic, but the recent versions are made out of rubber for safety reasons.
Kids are easily attracted to new games, and once they get their hands on them, it can be hard for them to let go and they’ll happily showcase their talents. Regardless, we’re glad that Azlinda’s niece has bid farewell to the toy. Perhaps, it’s a cue to look for a new hobby?
