JUST IN: Employers In MCO Areas Eligible For Pay Subsidies of RM600 For Each Employee

In his special aid package announcement today, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the PERMAI initiative that is totalling at RM15 billion. One of the initiatives under the program is to ensure the continuity of businesses.

This includes a wage subsidy program which is an initiative the government has received good feedback from the people. The Program Subsidi Upah 3.0 will be upgraded where all employers who are operating in MCO areas are eligible to apply, regardless of their sector.

For a period of one month, the eligible employer will receive a wage subsidy amounting to RM600 for each of their employees who earn less than RM4,000. In addition, the limit of 200 employees for each application will be increased to 500 employees.

This initiative involves an additional allocation of RM1 billion estimated to benefit 250 thousand employers who employ more than 2.6 million workers.
