Hygiene is the most important when you’re running a food business. 1 mishap and a “foreign object” found in your food, the consequences on your business can be unthinkable.

A food vendor at a Kluang hawker center recently went viral for tasting the dishes with 1 same spoon, and he was caught in the act. In the viral video, the man was seen holding a small bowl at his mixed rice stall, where he tasted the dishes, including the condiments, using the same spoon that he put into his mouth.

According to the information in the video, the incident took place on August 27 this year, and at that time, there was no customer at his stall.

Following the circulation of the video, a man named Chen claimed himself to be the stall owner and posted an apology on his Facebook.

“This is my mistake and my fault, and I will have to take responsibility.”

In his post, Chen admitted that he made a mistake that he shouldn’t have done as a hawker and sought the public’s forgiveness.

“I will learn my lesson and humbly accept pieces of advice from everyone. I hope the public can give me the chance to fix my mistakes, and I will reflect on them so that I can serve better food and give better service in the future.”

Chen then apologized once again near the end of his post and thanked his patrons for their continuous support. You can watch the video below, which was shared on the YouTube page of 大柔佛社区报.

We hope this will serve as a stern reminder to all food operators out there when it comes to hygiene practices.
