How would you feel if you were to work for someone but not get paid? No one would like that as, in our economy, getting paid for our work is important.

Unfortunately for one girl, not only did she not get paid for the singing gig she did, but the person who owed her the money also then decided to get violent.

Vera Chai took to her Facebook account to share how she reached out to a debt collector after the boss of the restaurant that she sang at had not paid her for her gigs and had decided to use his vehicle to hit the debt collector’s car.

She wrote, “I used to think that Ah Long’s debt collection was fierce and scary. But what is scary now are those who owe money and then hit people with their cars. It’s maybe about thirty or forty thousand for this kind of luxury cars, but for the driver, it’s just money for a meal.”

“But, for us, it’s all hard work in exchange for our time, labour and talent. My payment has been delayed since May. Then (the boss) did not answer the phone and spoke ill of us. He threatened to not pay the money and used bad words.”

Boss 4 1

In the video Vera shared, the boss can be seen in a Range Rover, purposefully hitting the debt collector’s car while using his phone.

What baffled Vera the most is the fact that she was owed money but was treated so badly when it came time to collect.

Boss 1

“It is us who are owed money, and we went to you and talked to you in a good manner. You said you don’t want to hear it, ‘bye bye’ you said. You grabbed your glass, stood up and just walked away,”

“Do singers not have to eat?”

Boss 2

Vera eventually decided to reach out to a debt collection service to assist her.

“I’ve reached my limit and I can’t find any other way. It is legal and reasonable for others to collect debts at this point.”

“It is not easy for us young people to start a business and pursue our dreams. What’s worse is to meet such a boss who bullies people. It’s fine to do work for a few months, but you still have to pay for it,” she explained.

Boss 3

She then ended her post by thanking the debt collection service.
