A Malaysian motorcyclist has won the hearts of netizens after he was spotted clearing a clogged drain submerged in floodwaters during a heavy downpour.
A video shared on Threads by user @moxxspeedzs_ captured the inspiring moment in Johor Bahru. In the footage, heavy rain had caused flash floods along a road, turning the area into a murky stream.
Rider jumps into action to clear blocked drainage
Instead of simply riding past or waiting for the water to recede, the user, who later revealed himself as the man in the video, decided to take matters into his own hands.
After asking someone nearby who had recorded the scene for the footage, he shared the video online. With the help of another passerby, he waded into the deep, muddy water and manually cleared away debris, plastic bottles and fallen branches that were obstructing the water flow.
“Heavy rain today, guys, but the roads are clear now. May everyone’s affairs be eased, amin,” he wrote on his post.
The viral post quickly garnered thousands of likes and shares, with many commending the rider’s civic-mindedness and quick thinking in helping ease traffic and prevent further flooding.
