Certain countries have enforced that dog owners should clean up after their dogs when they do their business in public spaces and that those who fail to comply should be subjected to fines.

While this should become a common courtesy that shouldn’t require the law’s intervention, there are sadly some who still don’t get the memo.

The Penang Kini Facebook page took to their profile to highlight a community complaint, where a woman can be seen apparently leaving her dog’s droppings at a local park.

They wrote, “The irresponsible attitude of visitors. There are still visitors who bring their pets to public places, which are recreational spaces for the various people in the community but visitors allow their pets to poop and pee as they like, even in areas where people sit and children play.”

The park, which netizens have disclosed as the Karpal Singh Drive, is a popular spot for people to jog, bring their children to play at, and enjoy the environment.

Knowing this, many netizens have shared their disapproval of pet owners just leaving their dog’s poop behind.

This comment goes, “We just got back from the Karpal Singh Drive, we were walking around the area and saw a couple bringing their dog for a walk. It’s okay, we decided to walk further away. Only then was it suitable for us to go dating while enjoying the ocean breeze, but we suddenly smelled poop and immediately lost the mood.”

Other netizens shared that they too bring their dogs there, but always put them in pampers first so that they don’t pee anywhere, and that they would pick up their dog’s poop as it is their responsibility.

“This has been happening for a long time, but if you want leisure, please do not bring pets to public places,” Penang Kini added.

It’s sad to know that irresponsible pet owners are painting such a bad picture of pet owners in general.

We hope that pet owners will always remember to clean up after their pets when in public spaces.
