Recently, a scandal broke out at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing, China, after a deputy chief doctor was exposed for having numerous affairs with fellow staff members.

According to a report by Sin Chew Daily, his wife reported him for having improper relationships with several female staff members over the past 5 years.

Doctor 1

The man, who was the deputy director of the hospital’s Thoracic Surgery Department, allegedly had affairs with 4 female staff members, which resulted in multiple pregnancies and abortions.

This was detailed in a 9-page complaint letter by his wife, who is also a doctor.

The wife also revealed that he had affairs with both a human resources department staff member and a nurse while he was taking care of another affair partner, who was pregnant. Apparently, these actions were an open secret within the hospital.

He left a patient on the operating table unattended

The most concerning thing that she highlighted was how the deputy chief doctor had lost control of his emotions during a surgery and abandoned a patient on the operating table for 40 minutes, due to a dispute with a nurse over the surgery he was conducting with one of his affair partners.

Leaving the anaesthetised patient alone on the operating table allegedly almost caused a serious medical incident.

A message was also sent to the hospital’s WhatsApp group, explaining how he had left the operation theatre with his affair partner while demanding that the nurse be replaced.

Doctor 2

“Xiao Fei (the deputy chief doctor) got angry early in the morning because of a random conversation. He threw away his gloves and took off his scrubs. He left the operating table and called (a staff member) to replace the circulating nurse; otherwise, he would stop the operation,”

“He took off the scrubs of Dr. Dong (his affair partner), who was in training, and took her out (of the operating theatre). He was not performing the surgery! After connecting the electrosurgical suction device, Xiao Fei took the trainee doctor away from the operation table and left the patient in the operating theatre. There was no doctor during the surgery!” the message read.

The consequences

Considering the severity of the situation, the China-Japan Friendship Hospital ultimately investigated the matter and upon verifying the report, the deputy chief doctor’s employment with the hospital was terminated.
