UMNO had their Mesyuarat Majlis Kerja Tertinggi (MKT) yesterday, 7 December, where they unanimously agreed that Kota Tampan State Assemblyman (ADUN) Datuk Saarani Mohamad will be appointed as the new Perak Menteri Besar candidate.

Astro Awani reported that this issue was informed by Datuk Seri Zahidi Zainul Abidin who is also a UMNO MKT Member. The meeting was chaired by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is scheduled to meet the Sultan of Perak today (8 December) to discuss Perak’s political crisis.

Netizens are in two minds over this appointment of Datuk Saarani as some don’t even know who he is, some netizens feel that he might not be the best choice for Perak. One netizen called out Barisan Nasional for their endless politicking even during a pandemic.

Saarani

“BN and their endless power struggle. Even when the country is facing a Covid-19 crisis, they are fighting among themselves and being selfish.”

“Power crazy! I thought when they lost the last General Elections, they would learn their lesson but apparently not. Those in UMNO sitting in the highest chairs are forgetting about their roots. Why can’t you give the position to someone who actually deserves it? Those desperately wanting to be the Perak MB are the same as well.”

The meeting also decided that Perak’s Perikatan Nasional (PN) government will continue to be defended. Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan in a statement, tonight informed that the cooperation involves UMNO State Assemblymen (ADUN) UMNO, Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

Will this new appointment be of any help to Perak? Let us know what you think!
