Heavy Rain Triggers Boulder Fall in Paya Terubong, No Injuries Reported

A Proton Saga was damaged after being struck by a falling boulder in an incident at Tingkat Paya Terubong 2, Paya Terubong, on October 24.

According to Harian Metro, a report from the Penang State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat stated that the incident occurred at 7:52 PM, approximately 60 metres from a nearby premises.

“The incident was caused by continuous heavy rainfall and water overflow from the hilltop. No casualties were reported.”

“The affected area has been cordoned off, and the public is advised to stay away from the embankment. Relevant technical agencies have been notified for further action,” the statement read.

It was also reported that a nearby Perodua Axia sustained damage, while several other vehicles were successfully moved immediately after the incident.

Personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) were present at the scene.

No structural damage to nearby buildings was reported, and cleanup operations are ongoing.
