Oko the puppy is the “guide dog” for a golden retriever, Tao, who has lost his sight to navigate the world and to keep him out of danger.
Tao, a golden retriever from England had to get his eyes removed due to glaucoma, an eye condition that jeopardises the vision.
Melanie Jackson, the owner of Tao found him experiencing excruciating pain due to glaucoma back in the year 2019. After visiting the veterinarian, one of the eyes that were badly affected was removed.
Eleven months after the first eye removal, Tao’s remaining eye’s eyesight was fading, and Melanie had no choice but to remove it. “Everyone has had to adapt and change things and Tao has adapted brilliantly,” she shared to SomersetLive.
Now, Tao has Oko the puppy as his “guide dog” to travel around. Tao has an account on Instagram where the owner frequently shares photos of him with puppy Oko.
The account shares photos of the two besties out for walks as well as napping. The photos have since warmed the hearts of netizens and the Instagram account gained around 18k followers at the time of writing.
The unique relationship between the two and Tao’s effort to adapt as a blind dog is truly heartwarming and amusing.
