The first term of the 15th Parliamentary commenced today (December 19), and the swear-in ceremony for all members of parliaments (MPs) was led by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Bagan MP, Lim Guan Eng, who is also the former minister of finance shared a couple of images on his Facebook account as a “celebratory” for the commencement of the first term of the Parliamentary. The first image was a wefie taken by Guan Eng with Pakatan Harapan’s Teresa Kok, Gobind Singh Deo, MUDA’s Syed Saddiq, and Barisan Nasional’s Hishammuddin Hussein behind him.

“That’s gotta be awkward, but differences aside, please!”

In what appears to be 2 regular photos, netizens had a lot to say and joke about. Many highlighted the possibility of “awkward tension” that was shown in Hishammuddin’s facial expression.

“It’s funny to befriend new people but I hope everyone can carry out their duties responsibly for the rakyat.”

“A harmonious yet weird-looking image.”

In the meantime, other netizens did not deny the awkward tension but expressed that they would like to see all leaders put their differences aside for a better Malaysia.

“Is Ismail smiling or laughing?”

Who would’ve expected to see PH and BN working together after being political rivals for years? Regardless, we do hope that both parties can put their differences aside and come together for the sake of a better country!
