Good news folks! Malaysians will no longer have to pay for the Goods and Service Tax (GST)!

No, it’s not fake news this time because the Ministry of Finance has just uploaded a media release on their official Facebook page saying that GST will be reduced from the current six per cent to zero per cent starting 1 June 2018.

Here’s the full media release.

In case you’re still having a hard time believing this, you should know that Tun Mahathir had already instructed the government to stop collecting GST. In fact, the government will reimburse business owners for the extra GST money they’ve collected earlier.

This is certainly shocking to hear for most Malaysians because although Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto did mention that GST would be abolished within 100 days if they take over Putrajaya, this is considered pretty damn early – after all, the new federal government is not even 1-week old!

Anyway, kudos to the new federal government for their efficiency and also staying true to their promises! Kipidap!
