Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has announced that the Lembah Pantai Parliamentary Office would be bearing the water bill for 500 houses in the constituency for the month of September.

Fahmi, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lembah Pantai said that this is after the Bangsar area, especially Bangsar Park has experienced continuous water disruptions due to repeated pipe bursts at Jalan Maarof.

Taking to Facebook, Fahmi said that he has met with Air Selangor’s top management to get an explanation on why the pipe at Jalan Maarof could burst as much as 5 times in a short period of time.

In its explanation to the Lembah Pantai MP, Air Selangor said that pipe replacement works at Jalan Maarof has caused high water pressure which causes old pipes to burst. Now, the issue has been resolved and they won’t be any issues regarding burst pipes at the location.

However, a total of 500 premises have been affected by the water disruption due to the incident. Furthermore, Air Selangor and the Lembah Pantai Parliamentary Office has failed to reach an agreement to provide rebate to the 500 premises affected.

Hence, that is why the Parliamentary Office would be bearing the September water bills for the 500 affected premises in the area.

Accordingly, Fahmi urged Air Selangor to improve its communications with the community, including working together with the Information Department and MPP to provide timely informations to the public.
