Nowadays people are more aware of their own worth, especially in the context of jobs, we see many employees calling out their employers when they do something questionable.
Recently, an employee in a Singaporean company sent a resignation letter to the HR department of the company and due to the contents of the letter, a copy of it made its way to the social media platform, Xiao Hong Shu.
The letter dated back to 15 September and it starts off well with the person stating their name and when their last day of service will be.
However, the icing on top is definitely the lower part of the letter where the reason for resignation is written in Singlish.
It reads like this:
“Every morning need to wake up early 5am just to travel to your company salary also never increase for me. MOST IMPORTANTLY IS NO BONUS TAKE. So NIAO how to continue to serve your company in a better way.”
Many netizens were amused with the way the letter was written and some who were not familiar with Singlish asked what ‘niao’ meant. According to several helpful netizens, ‘niao’ means stingy.
Other netizens also commented that bosses nowadays need to treat their workers who were born in the 90s and 00s differently than how they treat those workers born in the 70s and 80s as the younger ones will not hesitate to “fire their bosses”.
